My teaching assistantship began in 2020 while I was doing my Master’s at Louisiana State University (LSU), where I assisted large enrollment classes like AH 1001. Graduate assistantship was not a common practice in my undergraduate institution, the University of Dhaka, so this was a valuable professional milestone. I gained exposure to teaching large lecture classes, engaging with thousands of students, and developing effective pedagogical strategies at LSU.
Since arriving at Duke University in 2022, I have also continued to serve as a teaching assistant for cross-listed courses in art, economics, and visual studies. These have continued my pedagogical practice, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary engagement and diverse learning styles. Teaching at Duke has allowed me to try out the integration of technology and digital humanities into art history and visual culture study.

Aside from teaching, I have been consistently engaged in research assistantships. At Duke, I initially worked with Professor Hans van Miegroet at DALMI prior to its closure in 2023. I have subsequently worked with Professor Victoria Szabo in digital humanities projects such as the Virtual Black Charlotte Project, in which I use GIS mapping to study historical Black neighborhoods, and the Digital Durham Project, in which I apply text mining in analyzing archive documents. These projects integrate my proficiency in spatial and computational analysis in allowing me to study historical narratives through digital methodologies and tools.

At the later part of my undergraduate study, I worked at NVISIO, a private visual solutions company, in a combined graphic design and copywriting position. Over the course of 15 months, I gained industry experience, informing my creative and technical skills in a professional business environment. This role provided me with a unique perspective of visual communication solutions, complementing my academic learning with industry experience in the world of commerce.

I am currently a third-year Ph.D. student at Duke University, working under Professor Victoria Szabo and Professor Paul B. Jaskot. My doctoral research bridges my longstanding interests in spatial history and the art market, focusing on the emergence and evolution of New York City’s art galleries. This project explores the key figures and forces that shaped the gallery system, tracing its role in New York City’s rise as a global cultural hub. By combining historical research, spatial analysis, and computational methodologies, I aim to uncover the economic, social, and institutional dynamics that influenced the development of the city's art market landscape.

In Spring 2020, I began my Master’s program in Art History at Louisiana State University (LSU), with a minor in Mass Communication. At LSU, I was introduced to a broad spectrum of art historical topics, but it was the art market that captured my interest. My background in architectural history had already led me to consider the economic and business dimensions of architectural evolution, making the transition to art market research a natural progression. This shift culminated in my master’s thesis, The Evolution of Art Market Reporting Through the Lens of The New York Times, 1851–1900. My research examined how media narratives shaped public perceptions of the art market during a pivotal period in American art history, revealing the press’s role in constructing and legitimizing artistic value.

I earned my BFA in History of Art from the University of Dhaka, one of Bangladesh’s most esteemed academic institutions. During my undergraduate studies, I developed a deep interest in architectural history, which shaped my early research. My undergraduate thesis explored the Mughal-period mosques in Dhaka, analyzing their architectural evolution and historical significance. In addition to my thesis work, I presented a paper at the Zainul Seminar, an annual event honoring Zainul Abedin, the founder of the Faculty of Fine Arts. My presentation examined the spatial impact of Dhakeswari Temple, focusing on its historical and socio-cultural influence on the surrounding community.
